Server Sizing

Version Relevance: All versions

Issue: Anyone know what is the general rule of thumb when sizing a server for Caliach Vision?

Feedback: If the server is to be used just for serving the datafile, then you really only need space for the main datafile, a keyword file, a test version, and maybe some backups.

Very few Caliach Vision datafiles exceed 512 MBytes, so any modern hard drive of 10Gb or more is adequate.

If you are going to use the server as an application server in a Windows thin-client environment, then although the hard drive overhead will not significantly increase, a fast processor (or dual processor) system of 1GHz or above will be of benefit, as will lots of memory - say 512Mbytes plus - to maintain performance.
