Create New Data File

Use this function to create a new empty data file. After you have created the file, unless it is used in conjunction with the Data Fix feature, when you first attach to it using File -- Change Data File, it will be populated with a base set of data and a single administration user SYS with no password.

A data file can consist of up to 15 segments (operating system files) of a maximum size of 256Mb each. By allocating initially a particular size, disk fragmentation can be minimised in normal operation. Files are organised into blocks of 512 bytes, i.e. 2048 blocks per Mb.
